2/17/2017: Media Roundtable; R.L. Stine; Jacksonville Auto Show

It was our weekly Media Roundtable Friday on “First Coast Connect,” with Florida Times-Union columnist Mark Woods, Folio Weekly editor Claire Goforth, blogger Fred Matthews and Jacksonville Business Journal Timothy Gibbons. We also heard a recorded interview of “Goosebumps” author R.L. Stine and Jacksonville International Auto Show promoter Barbara Pudney talked about this weekend’s event.

Media Roundtable

Our panel discussed the Jacksonville City Council approving expanding the Human Rights Ordinance to cover the LBGT community and Mayor Lenny Curry allowing it to become law without his signature. They also talked about Curry asking for $250,000 in emergency funding to pay for new gun identification technology and the board at CSX calling a special shareholders meeting to talk about a possible takeover by railroad magnate Hunter Harrison.

R.L. Stine

Stine is one of the best selling children’s authors in history. He is appearing this weekend at the Amelia Island Book Festival. Host Melissa Ross spoke with him about his career and how he first started writing scary novels for young children.

Auto Show

The Jacksonville Auto Show runs through Sunday at the Prime Osborn Center. It features the latest in automotive technology and some of the latest trends in the industry. The show includes 10 ride and drive events from seven auto companies.
