11/17/2017: Media Roundtable; Tour de Farm; Wingfield

News 4 Jax

Friday on First Coast Connect our weekly Media Roundtable featured Florida Politics reporter A.G. Gancarski and WJCT’s Ryan Benk (01:10).

We heard about the upcoming Tour de Farm event with Slow Food First Coast Chapter Leader Kurt D’Aurizio and Farm Tour Coordinator Kyle McBride (38:52).

St. Augustine-based folk/rock band Wingfield performed live in-studio (46:00).

Media Roundtable

Our panel discussed the pre-sentencing hearing for former Congresswoman Corrine Brown who was found guilty earlier this year on 18 federal counts. Prosecutors are asking for at least five years in prison. Brown has asked for mercy and compassion. They talked about Jacksonville Landing owner Toney Sleiman suing the City of Jacksonville over breach of contract. They also discussed racial tensions on the University of North Florida campus and two local major civil rights organizations that will not participate in next year’s Martin Luther King Jr breakfast in protest over how the keynote speaker is selected.

Tour de Farm

Slow Food First Coast is rolling out its flagship event Sunday, the Tour de Farm.

This year’s Tour will showcase more than 50 local farms, artisan food makers and chefs in our region.

Tour de Farm celebrates local farms and local food and drink makers who maintain a commitment to good, clean, fair food for all. Visitors on the Tour will be given the opportunity to spend a day on-site at multiple local farms throughout Northeast Florida, meeting farmers, chefs and artisan makers.

Wingfield

The St. Augustine-based band, Wingfield is building a following around town for their  folk/rock, singer-songwriter original music. Wingfield is out with a new album Chasing the Old Dream will be available on ITunes Nov. 21.
