Janell Goodwin is a food safety expert with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the leading voice for the agency on social media.
She said you should always use a food thermometer when you cook meat and poultry to be sure you’ve reached a safe internal temperature.
- Cook raw beef, pork, lamb and veal steaks, chops and roasts to 145°F.
- Cook Ground beef, pork, lamb and veal to 160°F.
- Cook Raw poultry to 165°F
- Never wash raw chicken wings before cooking because it increases the risk of contaminating other foods and surfaces.
