Tuesday on First Coast Connect we heard about the city of Jacksonville’s Civil Rights History Task Force with authors and civil rights activists Tim Gilmore and Rodney Hurst (01:05).

Moveable Feast featured SuziRenehan of Uncanny Biscotti (26:58).

Director of the Warrior Care Network Alex Balbir told us about the latest treatments to help veterans suffering from PTSD (33:24).

Katie Provow and Katie Delaney told us about some recent changes at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre’s Farmers Market (46:00).

Civil Rights History

The Civil Rights History Task Force was created earlier this year by City Council President Anna Brosche. The panel is tasked to promote Jacksonville’s place in civil rights history, including getting the city included on the U.S. Civil Rights Trail.

Jacksonville has a fascinating civil rights history that goes well beyond the more infamous incidents like Axe Handle Saturday.

Moveable Feast

It’s an Italian treat, with a Southern twist.

In Tuesday’s Moveable Feast, our look at dining and hospitality trends around town, Leigh Cort of the Women’s Food Alliance talks with Suzi Renehan of Uncanny Biscotti0000017b-82fe-dd8b-a7fb-82ff6d620000.

Warrior Care Network

It’s an innovative new research program with Jacksonville’s Wounded Warrior Project.

The advocacy organization for veterans and soldiers is leading research to identify substances in the blood that indicate post-traumatic stress disorder in veterans. Then researchers will use these findings to target treatments based on each case.

Warrior Care Network is a partnership between Wounded Warrior Project and four top academic medical centers, UCLA, Rush University Medical Center, Emory Healthcare, and Massachusetts General Hospital.

St. Augustine Amphitheatre Farmers Market

The Farmers Market made two major announcements recently. It’s dropping the use of plastic bags and that SNAP/EBT recipients can double their purchasing power. The Farmers Market is also holding its first night market Tuesday from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
