Veterans Today.com

It’s National Suicide Prevention Week. On Wednesday’s First Coast Connect we talked about the suicide crisis among veterans and what is being done locally to combat it with Katherine Eicher, the lead suicide prevention coordinator for VA in North Florida and South Georgia and Daniel Henry, Public Information Officer for the region’s VA (01:10).

We spoke with Barbara Goldstein. She has spent over 30 years engaging communities on the importance of public art. She’s the keynote speaker at this week’s State of the Arts 2018 event, presented by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville. She was joined by the Cultural Council’s Director of Art in Public Places Christie Holechek (34:20).

Local guitaristGoliath Flores joined us for an in-studio performance. His most recent single is I Don’t Think You Understand. He’ll be performing 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and at 5 p.m. in Hemming Park as part of the Hispanic Heritage Celebration (46:00).
