Memorials for the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting
WLRN

It was one year ago today that a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School sparked a national youth protest movement to stop gun violence in America.

Nearly 1,200 American children and teenagers have been killed with guns in the past 12 months, a number that does not take into account the additional 900 to 1,000 youth gun suicides.

Jamie Rich, editor in chief of Flamingo Magazine and Marjory Stoneman Douglas alumni, and Dr. Marie Crandall, a trauma surgeon and professor of surgery at the University Of Florida College Of Medicine Jacksonville, joined us to talk about the one-year anniversary of the shooting and everything that has happened since then.

Void Magazine just marked a monumental occasion, the publication of its 100th issue. To celebrate, on Saturday, February 16, Void will have a throwback-style issue release party at Surfer The Bar.

Tye Wallace, Void’s publisher and president; and Matt Shaw, Void’s editor-in-chief, joined the show to tell us more.
