7/8/19: Unbroken Horizons Scholarship; Chasing the Moon; Cole Pepper

Seth Owen has become a Jacksonville's LGBTQ icon. But before that he was shunned from his family for being gay, faced homelessness and couldn't pay for college, even though he was accepted to Georgetown University. 

A friend of Owen's shared his story online and raised over $165,000 from around the world. The money went toward his college funds. Through his recengt Unbroken Horizons Scholarship Foundation, he has made it his mission to help other young people in the LGBTQ community.

Owen joined First Coast Connect with Melissa Ross in Studio 5 on Monday to talk more.

The date July 20, 2019, will mark the 50th anniversy of the moon landing.

Premiering on PBS Monday night, Chasing the Moon is a three-part series, that tells untold stories about that monumental day in history. Melissa Ross sat down with filmmaker Robert Stone.

Chasing the Moon will air at 9 p.m. on WJCT TV, channel 7.1.
