Home Learning; Nonprofit Community; First Coast YMCA
This week has been a challenging one for teachers, students and parents, as many of us across Florida with school-aged children are adjusting to virtual learning at home instead of the daily routine of going to school. Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene is supervising this massive undertaking in Jacksonville for all students in the Duval County Public Schools, and joined us with more.
The coronavirus crisis is affecting virtually every corner of our society. That includes the nonprofit community. Local organizations that serve this area are having to make tough decisions. Kevin Gay, CEO of Operation New Hope and Rena Coughlin, who heads the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida, joined us for a closer look.
First Coast YMCA
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, local gyms are closed. But the First Coast YMCA is helping its customers in a new way. They’re providing child care for the children of medical personnel, first responders and essential employees. Eric Mann is president and CEO of the First Coast YMCA, and joined us to tell us more.
