For the past few months, there’s been a community-wide conversation on how best to activate Jacksonville’s riverfront.

There will be a public meeting to discuss activating the Downtown riverfront later this month.  In the meantime, though, we took a closer look at how activating the waterfront might be beneficial to resident’s health. Gloria McNair of Community Engagement and Groundwork Jacksonville, and Ann-Marie Knight, VP at UF Health Jax, joined us with more.

Calmer Con

A different type of Comic Con is arriving in Jacksonville this month.  It’s called “Calmer Con” and it’s geared towards individuals on the autism spectrum. We spoke about why with Adam Wilson, director of Calm Passion.

Womens Golf

Edward Waters College (EWC) is welcoming women’s golf back thanks to a donation from The Players.  EWC Athletic Director Paul Bryant, and the PGA Tour’s Director of Community and Inclusion, Marsha Oliver, joined us with the details.

Flamingo Magazine

Flamingo Magazine, which launched on the First Coast, is celebrating its five year anniversary.  Jamie Rich, the magazine’s Founder, Publisher, and Editor in Chief, joined us to discuss how the publication has grown in that time.

Patrick Cantin can be reached at newsteam@wct.org and on Twitter.
