Sports analyst and WJCT contributor Cole Pepper discussed progress on the new Jacksonville Jaguars indoor practice facility Monday’s First Coast Connect.
The facility is being built in Everbank Field’s south end zone and is projected to be completed by April 2017.
The blistering Florida heat and scattered rain showers throughout the Jaguars' training camp has caused a need an indoor practice facility, he said.
“I remember a time when Tom Coughlin, the first jaguar coach, got so desperate because of the rain and heat that for practice he actually took the team to the Prime Osborne Convention Center and practiced in the lobby,” Pepper said.
Pepper said the practice facility is also an amphitheater, which could potentially serve as an NFL draft venue after being held in Chicago the previous two years.
