A FEMA/state mobile disaster recovery center opened Monday in Green Cove Springs, officials told our News4Jax partner.
The center is at the Clay County Fairgrounds Exhibition Building - Founders Hall -
2497 State Road 16 West, Green Cove Springs. It will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday.
A disaster recovery center remains open at the St Johns County Agricultural Extension Service "Hurricane House, 3125 Agricultural Center Dr, off State Road 16, just west of Intrastate 95.
It is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Officials said disaster recovery centers offer in-person support to individuals and businesses recovering from disasters. The centers can assist with:
- Registration for federal disaster assistance
- SBA Loan application and processing
- Case updates and status checks
- Processing appeals to eligibility determinations regarding federal assistance
- Connection to other State program information or assistance
Officials said disaster recovery centers in Florida are open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
Officials said people can register online or through the FEMA app, which is available for Android, iOS and Blackberry devices.
Applicants will need the following to apply:
- Social Security Number
- Daytime telephone number
- Current mailing address
- Address and zip code of the damaged property
- Private insurance information, if available.
Officials said by registering for federal assistance on DisasterAssistance.gov, people can:
- Find out if an address is in a disaster area declared for individual assistance
- Check the status of an application and get updates by SMS or email
- Upload documents to support the application
Another option for people, including those who use 711 relay or VRS, is to call 800-621-FEMA (3362), while those who use TTY can call 800-462-7585. Officials said the toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. EDT seven days a week until further notice.
When an applicant registers, they receive a unique registration number. Officials said the registration number is important, and should be written down and kept handy. Anyone who does not have a registration number is not yet registered.
