Jacksonville-based Web.com will build a new six story office building with parking for 1,200 at 5379 Gate Parkway on the Southside.

The global provider of Internet services announced Wednesday that the , 218,700 square-foot “Town Center Two” will be built on an 18 acre site.

"Since Web.com first opened its doors in 1997, we have grown from a small Jacksonville startup to a global employer of nearly 3,800 employees, of which nearly 1,000 Jacksonville employees are split between two office buildings with no room to expand," said David L. Brown, Web.com's chairman, CEO and president.

Web.com’s current Jacksonville headquarters is in the Flagler Center in the 12800 block of Gran Bay Parkway West.

The cost for the new facility hasn’t been announced but development plans are expected to be finalized early next year with a move-in expected by the spring of 2019.

Among the amenities will be an outdoor courtyard and pedestrian walkway under J. Turner Butler Boulevard to the St. Johns Town Center, according to Web.com.

The development is expected to include an expansive dining area, fitness center, health clinic, and open floor plans for greater flexibility in workplace design.

"We look forward to soon serving our customers and employees out of a centrally located headquarters that affords us room for continued growth in Jacksonville," said Brown.

Since Web.com opened in 1997 it has expanded to operate out of Jacksonville and another 28 U.S. markets and in the countries of Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Spain and the United Kingdom, according to the company.
