Jacksonville’s latest rooftop bar and restaurant is set to open Monday. The 450-seat River and Post restaurant is on the corner of Riverside Avenue and Post Street, overlooking the St. Johns River.
After more than a year and a half of planning and building, managing partner Jeff McCusker said the nautically-inspired seafood and steak place is the culmination of a dream he had after moving to Jacksonville from Melbourne.
“Everybody has dreams to maybe own a restaurant. I thought my first restaurant would be at the end of a strip mall somewhere,” he said. “I didn’t realize that it was going to be this big and I feel very fortunate and very lucky.”
The menu will mostly be inspired by no-frills, American southern cooking with a price range starting at $17 and ending at $35, McCusker said.
The rooftop will feature its own bar with indoor and outdoor seating and a mini-kitchen upstairs is equipped to provide patrons with small dishes to munch on alongside signature cocktails and local brews.
