With just one-week to go until Christmas, UPS is looking for more seasonal workers.

The Atlanta-based delivery service says it’s especially interested in hiring package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers, although other seasonal jobs are available.

UPS spokesman Steve Gaut  says the thing about these seasonal jobs is that they’re often an entry point for permanent employment.

“Over the last three years, thirty-five percent of the people we hired for seasonal package handler jobs were later hired in a regular position with excellent benefits when the holidays were over.”

A check of the UPS website Monday afternoon showed openings for a driver helper, part-time dockworker and part-time package handler in Jacksonville.

Gaut says UPS expects to deliver a record 750-million holiday packages this year.
