VIDEO: Take A Ride On Jacksonville's New Autonomous Test Track

The future has arrived as the Jacksonville Transportation Authority unveils its first autonomous vehicles test track.

It's across the street from Intuition Ale Works off Bay Street in downtown Jacksonville.

JTA will be offering the public rides as the transit agency evaluates different vehicles as possible candidates to eventually replace today's Skyway cars.

The U2C - which stands for Ultimate Urban Circulator - will run between Intuition Ale Works to the stadium and Daily's Place Amphitheater during special events.

The vehicle in the first round of testing is the EZ10 from EasyMile/Transdev. It can either operate in a loop, as is being done in the JTA test, or in an “on demand” service mode, according to EasyMile’s website.

You can read more about the Skyway's planned expansion in this WJCT News story and at JTA's U2C website.
