Jacksonville Investor Buys Former Jerome Brown Barbecue Sauce Plant

A foreclosed Northwest  Jacksonville barbecue sauce plant building could be producing hummus, the Daily Record reports.

Jacksonville investor David Hicks Jr. has purchased the former Jerome Brown barbecue sauce plant, The sauce plant, once co-owned by District 8 City Councilwoman Katrina Brown, was supposed to create 56 jobs, but the city said it didn’t.

Now, Moongate Kitchen hummus creator Hicks said his product’s production could be happening by June.

Aaron Gottlieb, the founder of Jacksonville-based Native Sun Natural Foods, said he intends to carry Moongate Kitchen’s hummus in his three stores.
