Get ready to exercise some patience if you’ll be in the downtown sports complex area this weekend.
Between the Welcome To Rockville concert at Metropolitan Park, the Jumbo Shrimp games at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and the Jeff Dunham Tour at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, parking will be at a premium.
Part of Gator Bowl Boulevard in the area of A. Philip Randolph Boulevard to Talleyrand Avenue has also been closed to become part of the Welcome To Rockville venue, according to the Sheriff's Office. It won't reopen until sometime Sunday.
For events at the Arena and Baseball Grounds, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is encouraging drivers to enter downtown by way of the Main Street Bridge or Acosta Bridge.
Those attending Welcome To Rockville are asked to use the Mathews Bridge or Hart Bridge.
Other tips and information from JSO:
- Arrive early since traffic is expected to be slow.
- In the Sports Complex footprint the taxi pick-up will be located on Georgia Street (between Adams Street and Duval Street).
- Parking Lot N at EverBank Field is reserved for a private event being held at the stadium on Saturday evening.
- Remember to bring cash to pay for parking. Prices may vary depending on whether you park in public parking or private parking. JSO estimates city owned lots will cost $20.
- Take a picture of where you park and landmarks near where you park to make it easier to locate your parking spot post event.
