A judge has sentenced the woman who was convicted of stealing a newborn from a Jacksonville hospital decades ago and raising the child as her own.

Gloria Williams was sentenced Friday morning to 18 years in prison for charges related to the kidnapping of Kamiyah Mobley in 1998 by Florida Fourth Circuit Court Judge Marianne Aho.

“There are no winners and losers in this case,” said Aho, adding, "This is a very sad case, and many people have suffered, including Ms. Williams, as a result of her choices on the day of the crime."

Williams received credit for 511 days already served. She was also ordered to repay $518 in court costs and $500 in investigative costs.

“I’ve heard from many, many witnesses who have testified with their hearts and with their souls  about their views of this case, their experience, and I have listened carefully to the all of the testimony. I appreciate all of the testimony,” said Aho.

The 52-year-old Williams testified that she wore scrubs to look like a nurse and put the infant in a bag and secreted her out of the hospital.

Williams raised Mobley - who grew up as Alexis Manigo - in South Carolina until her arrest in 2017.

She didn't tell Manigo what her true identity was until the girl discovered she couldn't get a driver's license because she didn't have a valid birth certificate or Social Security card.
