Clay County Fire Chief Lorin Mock has been selected to serve as Clay County’s interim county manager.
Mock will be temporarily replacing Stephanie Kopelousos who resigned to join Governor-elect Ron DeSantis’ team as his director of legislative affairs.
“This is a bittersweet time for our community,” said Chairman Mike Cella in an email to WJCT News.
“Stephanie Kopelousos has provided a legacy of leadership, hard work and integrity. Her genuine care and compassion for the County’s staff and residents laid the foundation for future success of our community. For this, we, as a Board, express our gratitude. We also know that her legacy will continue in her new role at the State and we wish her much success,” said Cella.
Starting as a volunteer firefighter, Mock has more than 40 years of public safety experience. Mock has also been the project manager for the county’s Motorola 800 MHz radio system.
The Clay County Board of County Commissioners unanimously selected Mock while also moving forward with a request for qualifications (RFQ) of recruitment firms to start the search for Kopelousos’ long-term successor.
