Thursday is the last day of Black History Month. For Jacksonville, it’s a history that includes brushes with some of the nation’s most prominent black historical figures.

Kelsi Hasden tells WJCT News Director Jessica Palombo about five of them in this week's Jaxson on WJCT segment:

  1. Educator, civil rights leader, and adviser to U.S. presidents Mary McLeod Bethune
  2. Singer Marian Anderson
  3. Abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass
  4. Poet Paul Laurence Dunbar
  5. National Negro Business League founder Booker T. Washington
