The misleading text sent to a Duval resident on election day.

A text message sent to a Duval County resident Tuesday morning requesting turnout for incumbent Mayor Lenny Curry and other Republicans falsely implied Wednesday is election day.

The Jacksonville Beach resident, who asked to remain anonymous, shared a screenshot of the text message with WJCT News.

It reads “Tomorrow’s Election Day in Jacksonville! Your vote is crucial and we need you to turnout for Mayor Lenny Curry and other Republicans. Do you plan to vote tmrw?”

When WJCT News called the number that the text says it’s from, a message said the number is no longer in service.

The recipient is not registered to vote with any political party.

Later in the day the same recipient received another text message from a different phone number saying essentially the same thing —  to vote for Curry and other Republicans —  but with the correct election day, “today.”

WJCT has shared the false text with Duval County Supervisor of Elections Mike Hogan. This story will be updated if he responds.
