The National Park Service is inviting the public to participate in the planning process for the Visitor Use Management Plan for Cumberland Island National Seashore.
Cumberland Island is located six miles east of St. Marys, Georgia, and is only accessible by boat. It has 36,000 acres of maritime forests, salt marsh, and beaches.
The National Park Service hopes to develop a plan that promotes relevancy and provides sustainable access.
At the listening sessions on April 12 and 13, the park service will be providing information about the park and hopes to spread the word about the effort, said Gary Ingram, Cumberland Island National Seashore Superintendent,

The park is also urging people to submit their online comments, suggestions, and concerns before the upcoming meetings by visiting this website.
Public Meeting Sessions
- The first will be held April 12, from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Elementary School, 600 Osborne St., St. Marys, Georgia.
- The second will be held April 13, from 2 until 5 p.m. at REI in Atlanta, 1800 NE Expressway NE, Atlanta. The National Park Service will accept written comments at the open houses and online.
