Visit Jacksonville has a new app available for Android and iPhone users.

Visit Jacksonville has launched a new app to help tourists and natives alike.

“More than 1 million users visit our website annually, and almost 70 percent of them do it on their mobile phone, making this app a much needed feature to better promote our destination,” said Michael Corrigan, President and CEO of Visit Jacksonville in an email to WJCT News.

The free app includes listings for places to stay, events, what to see and do, where to eat and drink, as well as local tours.

Among its features is “Plan Your Trip,” which allows users to build a sequence of things to do. The app will then map out the best route.

Self-guided tours are also included for public art, historic buildings and historic homes. Some of them include audio guides.

“We will continue to expand this feature and soon will be adding augmented reality to the tours on the app, giving users a chance to look into the past and present of our city,” said Katie Mitura, VP of marketing and communications for Visit Jacksonville.

The app is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
