The City of St. Augustine is giving away a tiny house to someone who promises to love it, care for it and move it somewhere else.
Spokesman Paul Williamson said the city will even throw in $5,000 to help with relocation costs.
“It is a beautiful little 1940s cottage out of cypress and heart of pine wood. It’s not anything the city can use but we’d like to see it saved,” said Williamson.
Williamson said the single story, 960-square-foot cottage at 91 Coquina Avenue sits on a 10 acre piece of property on Anastasia Island that the city plans to turn into a pocket park.
“We’re not looking at putting out swing sets and picnic tables and, you know, but just greenspace with an incredible view of the Matanzas River and the City of St. Augustine,” he added.
A Monday, June 17, open house at the cottage runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The deadline to submit a proposal for the Coquina House is close of business on Friday, June 28.
