Three minor injuries were reported Monday after a JTA bus hit an Amtrak train at the intersection of South McDuff Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard, according to Jacksonville police and fire officials.
The crash occurred just after 6:30 a.m., JTA spokesman David Cawton III told WJCT News partner The Florida Times-Union.
The Amtrak train was headed south when the crash occurred, images showing the right front of the bus touching one of the passenger train’s locomotives near a partially deployed crossing arm. The crash forced the shutdown of the roadways at that busy intersection in the Murray Hill area, police said.
Initially, no passengers claimed injuries, then two people came forward to report minor issues, Cawton said. The JTA bus driver also had minor injuries, Cawton said.
