If you’re looking for something new to try when visitors come to town, here’s an idea: An Amazon tour.

The online retailer now offers free tours of its Jacksonville Fulfillment Center at 12900 Pecan Park Road.

Known as JAX2, the free tours are offered via an online reservation tool Mondays through Fridays at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The tours include a look at how employees, called Amazonians, use robots and other technology to locate specific items among millions of products.

Amazon says its fulfillment centers are the size of 14 football fields and include miles of conveyor belts whizzing packages from one location to the next.

The Pecan Park Road location is one of 23 Amazon fulfillment centers across the country to offer the tours.

Robots are a common sight at Amazon's fulfillment centers.

Visitors must be six years or older.

Amazon also has other operations in Jacksonville, including the JAX3 Fulfillment Center at 13333 103rd Street and the Amazon Flex DJXI at 11084 Cabot Commerce Circle.  Those operations do not offer tours.
