The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is expanding its service area beyond the River City once again with a third Clay Community Transportation Flex Route. The latest one will connect Keystone Heights with Gainesville in Alachua County.
JTA spokesman David Cawton II said the new Magenta Line service will be somewhat limited, at least initially.
“Right now, we’re comfortable with having one trip in the mornings, one trip in the afternoons to do a full loop. There will be some individual stops along the way, whether that’s a Walmart or a gas station or a community center.” Cawton said more stops could be added as ridership grows.
A round trip will cost $2.00. More personalized service is available for an extra dollar or two.
“So if they are not able to make it to, say, the Keystone Senior Center for pick-up, they can call us for a reservation and we can pick them up nearby and drop them off nearby as well,” said Cawton.
The Magenta Line will run between the Keystone Heights Senior Center on Commercial Circle and the Rosa Parks station in downtown Gainesville.
The new service launches Monday, August 12.
