Firehouse Subs locations across Northeast Florida are holding a fundraiser from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to raise money for the families of missing firefighters Brian McCluney and Justin Walker.
During that time, 10% of all sales will go to the families of McCluney and Walker to use as they see fit.
"Firefighter heritage and our commitment to first responders is what Firehouse Subs was founded on. Giving back to the families of these two hometown heroes through the Northeast Florida Firemen Wives Foundation is the least we can do to show our support during this difficult time," said Meg Rose, vice president of field operations at Firehouse Subs, in an email to WJCT News.
McCluney is a JFRD engineer/paramedic from Jacksonville Fire Station 31, and Walker is from Virginia.
The U.S. Coast Guard ended its active search Thursday at sunset. The men went missing during a Port Canaveral fishing trip. They were expected back on Friday, Aug. 16.
While holding out hope the men may still be found, the families of the firefighers thanked the numerous agencies and hundreds of volunteers who have helped search for the men during a news conference Monday. Read that part of the story from WJCT News partner News4Jax.
Anyone wishing to donate to the families can also do so at JFRD.com, and anyone who finds or spots the missing men is asked to call 911.
