The owner of The Stout Snug in Murray Hill intends to open the 10/Six Grille in the historic Downtown Jacksonville Seminole Building, which is anchored by Sweet Pete’s candy store.
The restaurant will take the former Candy Apple Cafe and MLG space at 400 N. Hogan St.
It won’t be an Irish pub.
Russ Disparti said the new restaurant is family-friendly and will be geared toward children and adults.
"My theme is derived from Lewis Carroll’s work," he said, referring to the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.
The Mad Hatter character's hat carried a 10/6 label, referring to the 10 shillings and sixpence cost of a hat. It became the date and month to celebrate Mad Hatter Day.
