Jaguars Trade For Steelers Quarterback Joshua Dobbs Following Nick Foles' Injury
The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Monday the team has traded its fifth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft to the Pittsburgh Steelers to land quarterback Joshua Dobbs.
Dobbs has appeared in five games for the Steelers and was inactive in Pittsburgh’s loss to New England Sunday. He completed six of 12 passes for 43 yards and an interception last season, according to the Jaguars. Dobbs was inactive in 15 of 16 games as a rookie in 2017.
The move comes after Jaguars starting quarterback Nick Foles suffered a broken left cavicle in the first quarter of Sunday’s 40-26 regular season opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at TIAA Bank Field.
Jaguars backup quarterback Gardner Minshew, a sixth-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft, played the final three quarters Sunday.
WJCT News partner News4Jax reported Dobbs will back up Minshew.
Minshew completed 22 of 25 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. The Jaguars also have quarterback Chase Litton on the practice squad.
WJCT News partner The Florida Times-Union reported Foles was scheduled to have surgery Monday and is expected to be out until mid-November.
