The third annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) College Fair is Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jessie Ball duPont Center at  40 E Adams St. in Downtown Jacksonville.

The HBCU College Fair will provide students with opportunities to explore scholarships, school admission, and participate in workshops focused on self-motivation, college readiness, and career success while exposing attendees to everything Historically Black Colleges and Universities have to offer.

Parents and students are encouraged to register and attend.

State Representative Tracie Davis told WJCT News that 320 people had registered as of Friday afternoon.

“Being a graduate of an HBCU, I am extremely excited to host a fair that specifically highlights Historical Black Colleges and Universities to students, especially considering their long and rich history of being great institutions for young people to attend,” Davis said. “More importantly, HBCUs accept and provide scholarships to help more low-income and first generation college students to ensure that all students get a fair chance at a valuable education.”

The organizations scheduled to participate include:

  • 5,000 Role Models and Black Educators Rock
  • Edward Waters College
  • Bethune-Cookman University
  • Florida A&M University
  • Florida Memorial University
  • Savannah State University
  • United States Marines
  • 100 Black Men

Attendees can register for the fair at this Eventbrite webpage.

The fair is a collaboration between The CenterOne Foundation, Jacksonville City Councilman Garrett Dennis and Davis.
