A former teacher at Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville has been sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison for distributing child pornography.
Authorities said 38-year-old Jordan Schemmel of Ormond Beach was arrested last October after a search of his home turned up more than a hundred photos and videos of young children being abused.
In addition to time in prison, Schemmel was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release and ordered to register as a sex offender.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office assisted with the case as part of Project Safe Childhood.
The national initiative is focused on finding and prosecuting people who exploit children, as well as identifying and rescuing victims of child sexual abuse.
