Tuesday is Military Appreciation Day at THE PLAYERS Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, a day that typically culminates with a ceremony of nationally-ranked dignitaries, military pageantry and a concert.

This year, the concert will be a little different. for the first time in the tournament’s history, an electronic dance music artist will perform on the TPC’s famous 17th hole island green.

The Grammy-Award winning duo The Chainsmokers were selected because of their strong connection to the military.

Half of the duo, Drew Taggart, said he and Alex Paul have never played a golf tournament before — but the Chainsmokers started playing USO shows to give back, once they became popular on Top 40 radio.

“We just have so much respect for those who have sacrificed. Having a normal life to give back to us and let us live a life that is awesome - you know, our friends and family - we just don’t take it for granted,” said Taggart.

The Chainsmokers said they are the first non-country act to perform at TPC Military Appreciation Day.
