Former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign has announced the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee will hold a virtual roundtable with African American leaders in Jacksonville on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

North Florida Congressman Al Lawson (D-FL5) and State Senate Minority Leader Audrey Gibson (D-Jacksonville) will be joining Biden for the virtual roundtable.

A sign-up page and location is forthcoming, the campaign said. An email to WJCT News did not specify whether Biden, Lawson and Gibson will be in the same phyical location.

Following the Jacksonville virtual event, Biden is planning to hold a Tampa virtual rally at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Registration for the Tampa event is here.

The coronavirus outbreak has forced the 77-year-old candidate and his campaign to pivot to the internet as the main campaign battlefield – at least for now.

Although Biden is not officially the Democratic nominee, given his wide delegate lead and the momentum from a string of major primary victories, including Florida, it's widely assumed he will face President Donald Trump in the fall.

Biden, who has said he will select a woman as his running mate, will be looking to gain momentum with his virtual Florida events after being publicly accused of sexual assault by a former Senate staffer in the 1990s.

Biden was a long-time U.S. Senator from Delaware before becoming former President Barack Obama’s vice president.
