The August 18 Florida Primary will be a big one in Clay County, with Sheriff, Clerk of the Court, and Superintendent of Schools among the local offices up for grabs, in addition to seats on the School Board and County Commission.
Other offices that voters will decide are supervisor of elections, property appraiser, tax collector, Clay Soil and Water Conservation District seats, Community Development District seats and Municipal Service Benefit District seats.
Current Clay County Supervisor of Elections Chris Chambless is encouraging early voting, with the announcement Tuesday of a seventh early voting location.
The Thrasher-Horne Conference Center at 283 College Drive in Orange Park has been added to the list of early voting locations that will be open daily August 6-15 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

At the time of this story’s publication, Clay County had 83,268 registered Republicans; 35,798 Democrats; 35,233 voters with no party affiliation and 1,891 voters with other affiliations.
Following the August primary, voters will cast ballots in the November 3 general election, which for Clay County voters will include: president, U.S. representative for District 3, state attorney, public defender, state senator for District 5, state representatives for Districts 18 and 19, supreme court justice, judges on the District 1 Court of Appeal, and 11 Circuit Judges.
