JEA filed a lawsuit Friday against ousted CEO Aaron Zahn, contending Zahn has no grounds to ask an arbitrator to award him nearly $1 million from his tenure.
“Mr. Zahn’s claim that he is entitled to nearly $1 million from JEA is disappointing given the damage he has caused to JEA and the Jacksonville community,” the utility said in a statement, according to WJCT News partner The Florida Times-Union.
“JEA’s decision to terminate Mr. Zahn for cause was the right one, and JEA is fully committed to defending that decision in a transparent court proceeding.”
The JEA board fired Zahn with cause in January, a decision that denied him benefits such as a severance package and a year-long consulting contract after his dismissal.
