The application for the assistance program will open up on June 20 at 8 a.m.

Jacksonville is launching a Senior and Disabled Financial Assistance Program later this week.

Mayor Lenny Curry announced the program during a Tuesday news conference. It will begin accepting applications this Saturday, June 20 at 8 a.m

“This will be a one time payment of $300 to Duval County residents aged 72 or older, or any resident who's receiving Social Security disability benefits,” Curry said.

To qualify for the $300 dollar payment, a senior or person with a disability must:

  • Reside in Duval County.
  • Certify that you did not receive funds from the city’s VyStar Small Business Assistance and Employee Retention Loan Program.
  • Certify that you did not receive funds from the city’s Mortgage, Rent, and Utilities Relief Program.
  • You must be either 72 years or older OR receive Social Security Disability benefits.
  • You have experienced either a reduction in income or an increase in expenses due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Your adjusted gross income did not exceed $30,000 in 2019.
  • You will also need to provide your birthdate and the last four digits of your Social Security Number.

Only one card will be given out per household, with 3,300 people getting the money in the form of payment cards, which will be mailed directly to them.   Unlike the mortgage, rent and utility payment cards, people will not need to go to the Ed Ball Building or Main Library Branch.
The city is encouraging people to create a MyJax account online at myjax.custhelp.com before the application opens on Saturday. Assistance will also be available over the phone at (904) 255-8888.
