Residents of Jacksonville’s Centennial Towers senior living community in Springfield will be seeing improvements.
The Jacksonville Housing Authority board of directors has approved renovating all 208 apartments in the 14-story building on East 1st Street at a cost of about $14.5 million.
The work will be done three floors at a time. The housing authority said impacted residents will be temporarily relocated while their apartments are overhauled.
Plans call for new appliances, plumbing and air conditioning as well as electrical system upgrades.
The work is slated to begin this summer and wrap up in the fall of next year.
