The ride along Jacksonville’s Zoo Parkway will soon be prettier, but first motorists will have to endure several months of landscaping work by area crews.
The work will include planting live oaks, wild date palms, magnolias and crape myrtles along the Northside roadway. It's scheduled to begin Friday, August 7, and take about four months to complete.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) said Monday the $860,000 project will involve some occasional lane closures during daytime hours Monday through Friday.
Temporary irrigation systems will also be installed to support the new plants. The landscaping will take approximately two years to establish itself, according to FDOT.
