Amentum, a federal contractor, has informed the state of Florida it may be forced to layoff 13 people who work at Naval Air Station Jacksonville in October as part of nationwide staff reductions.
The company says it expects to layoff 524 employees across the country.
Amentum cited its Combined Tactical Training Range (CTTR) Systems and Equipment government contract as the reason for the planned layoffs.
“This action can only be reversed if the U.S. Government extends work under this contract prior to October 26, 2020,” Amentum’s human resources department wrote in a letter to Steve Gustafson, who is the state’s trade and rapid response coordinator.
In Jacksonville, several of Amentum’s electronics and network administration jobs could be lost. Ten layoffs are also planned at the company’s NAS Key West facility and 16 layoffs are planned at its Pincastle facility in Altoona, Fla.
Amentum said the remainder of the layoffs were expected in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia and Washington.
