More than 60% of eligible Duval County voters have cast their votes ahead of Election Day. They are some of the more than 8.9 million Floridians who chose to vote early, in person, or by mail in this pandemic year.
Vote-by-mail and early voting totals from the Florida Division of Elections Monday morning showed 8,974,896 ballots had been counted so far ahead of Tuesday’s election.
The News Service of Florida reported 64.14% of Florida's 14.44 million registered voters cast ballots ahead of Tuesday’s election. The totals do not include vote-by-mail ballots that have not yet been returned or arrived just after the latest totals were released.
Four years ago, 74.5 percent of the state’s registered voters cast ballots in the general election. The modern record is 83 percent in 1992.
Florida Democrats came out in stronger numbers ahead of Election Day:
- Vote-by-Mail Provided (Not Yet Returned): 572,785
- Voted Vote-by-Mail: 2,112,081
- Voted Early: 1,400,130
Florida Republicans:
- Vote-by-Mail Provided (Not Yet Returned): 424,785
- Voted Vote-by-Mail: 1,448,396
- Voted Early: 1,955,692
Democrats also hold the edge ahead of Election Day in Duval County with 176,576 votes counted as of Monday, according to the Duval County Supervisor of Elections. Republican votes totaled 153,060 Monday morning.

So far, 399,146 votes have been counted in Duval County, where there are 664,222 eligible voters, which equates to a turnout of 60.09% ahead of Election Day.
In the final NPR Electoral College map analysis before Election Day, Florida is listed as a toss-up state. NPR said President Donald Trump has a narrow – but not impossible – path to win reelection against Joe Biden, based on polling.
