The end of the year will mark the loss of 90 Lockheed Martin jobs at the Cecil Commerce Center on Jacksonville’s Westside.
“Unless the affected employees obtain employment elsewhere within Lockheed Martin, their employment will end,” Lockheed spokeswoman Tyler Chini wrote in a letter to Florida Trade and Response Coordinator Steven Gustafson.
Lockheed Martin lost its bid to renew its government contract to perform P-3 aircraft maintenance at Cecil. The current contract ends December 31.
Although 90 Lockheed jobs in Jacksonville are being lost, the overall impact is expected to be significantly less. Lockheed said, “Many of our employees at this location already received or will receive offers of employment from the new vendor at this location.”
The Jacksonville Lockheed jobs being eliminated include aircraft mechanics, logistics managers and electronics technicians.
