Jacksonville’s annual tree lighting ceremony will be a virtual event Tuesday evening, Dec. 8.
City officials say Mayor Lenny Curry and his family are hosting the 2020 Jacksonville Christmas Tree Lighting but they are encouraging the public not to attend in person to prevent a large gathering during the pandemic.
Instead, they suggest gathering around the TV, computer or smartphone to enjoy a live video stream of the lighting.
The event will take place at James Weldon Johnson Park in Downtown Jacksonville Tuesday, Dec. 8, beginning at 6:15 p.m.
WJCT News partner News4Jax will carry the event live on television.
Again, the public is requested not to attend in person.
Throw a yule log on the fire, grab a hot chocolate and watch our annual Christmas Tree Lighting from home Tuesday night at 6:15pm. Mayor @lennycurry and his family invite you to tune in to your favorite local news stations or websites to watch the lighting live. Happy Holidays! pic.twitter.com/Z4kRqLeBq4
