The Ugly Cupcake Muffinry in Jacksonville Beach is closing.

A well-known Jacksonville Beach café and bakery is closing as a result of the pandemic.

The Ugly Cupcake Muffinry announced on its Facebook page that Tuesday, Jan. 19, is its last day in business.

“In the end, the pandemic just hit us too hard to recover from,” Ugly Cupcake Muffinry Chef Ivy Wolf wrote.

Wolf thanked customers for supporting the café over the past five-and-a-half years.

“Thank you for letting me watch your babies grow. Thank you for bringing in your pups to brighten my day. Most of all, thank you for the love. I felt it every day,” she wrote.

More than 80 comments of thanks and support had poured into The Ugly Cupcake Muffinry’s Facebook page by the time of this story’s publication.

The Ugly Cupcake Muffinry, which was located at 115 Fifth Ave. S., served muffins, breakfast and lunch daily. The company’s motto was “Everyone knows that muffins are just ugly cupcakes.”
