Sailors conducted a decommissioning ceremony Tuesday aboard the Cyclone-class patrol ship USS Shamal (PC 13) at Naval Station Mayport.
The Shamal is one of three Cyclone-class patrol ships being decommissioned at the station.
Among those on hand for the ceremony were the Shamal’s first commander, retired Captain Paul Flood, and the ship’s current commanding officer, Lt. Cmdr. Daniel J. O’Neill.
The Shamal launched in 1995 and was commissioned in 1996. The 179-foot long vessel has historically carried four officers and 26 enlisted personnel, according to the Naval Vessel Register.
