City Council To Discuss Improving Nutritious Food Access In Underserved Neighborhoods

News4Jax

The Jacksonville City Council plans to hold a public meeting Thursday to discuss access to nutritious food in the New Town neighborhood.

The meeting comes following reporting from WJCT news partner The Florida Times-Union, which revealed the lengths that residents of the northside neighborhood must go to reach a grocery store.

The report launched immediate action from City Council members, including a request for investigation into a more direct bus route connecting residents to shopping options by Council member Ron Salem.

Members of the public may attend the meeting via Zoom on Thursday, February 25 at 12:30 p.m.
