The annual Richest People in the World list from Forbes is out and two First Coast residents are on it, along with Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan.
Every year Forbes looks at the richest people in the world. This year Forbes counted 2,755 billionaires, which is 660 more than a year ago.
Of the billionaires, Forbes found 86% are richer than a year ago.
On the First Coast, Former Jaguars owner and Shoe Carnival Chairman Wayne Weaver checked in at 2674 with an estimated worth of $1 billion.
Weaver started his career as a shoe salesman, rising to CEO of Nine West in 1978, according to Forbes. He owned a majority of the Jaguars for 18 years before selling to Shad Khan for $770 million in 2011.
Khan, who often docks his Kismet super yacht in Downtown Jacksonville for weeks at a time, came in at 308 on this year’s list with an estimated net worth of $8 billion.
Although Khan owns a Jacksonville business, he is not a Jacksonville resident. He splits his time between several homes around the world.
The Jaguars owner made his fortune buying auto parts supplier Flex-N-Gate from his former employer in 1980, according to Forbes. An engineer, Khan’s one-piece truck bumper design was the basis of his success. His Kismet super yacht is currently listed for sale at approximately $200,618,475.
Perhaps less-known is Jacksonville’s Patrick Zalupski, who joins the billionaires list at #2263 with an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion, according to Forbes.
Zalupski is the Co-Founder of Dream Finder Homes, which went public in January with an IPO. Forbes reports he owns 65% of the company after starting Dream Finders Homes in 2008. The company builds homes throughout the Southeast and parts of the Southwest.

Former President Donald Trump, who is now a Palm Beach resident, saw his net worth tumble by nearly 300 spots in this year's rankings. Forbes listed Trump's estimated net worth at $2.4 billion, down from $3.5 billion when he entered the White House in 2017.
The world’s top two richest men on this year’s list are Amazon CEO and Founder Jeff Bezos, with an estimated $177 billion net worth, which has significantly risen since the snapshot was taken; and Tesla CEO and Space X Founder Elon Musk, with an estimated $151 billion net worth.
Like Bezos, Musk’s real time net worth has also significantly risen since the Forbes 2021 snapshot was taken.
