Jacksonville Fire and Rescue is hiring emergency communications officers to answer 911 and non-emergency calls and to send personnel and equipment where needed.
City officials said they woud really like to put military veterans in these positions.
Firefighting and paramedic training are not required. The three certifications that are required can be acquired later with the help of the department.
