Genpact Will Lay Off 489 Jacksonville Employees

Genpact has informed the state it will be permanently laying off approximately 489 workers at its Deerwood Park location on Jacksonville’s Southside on August 31.The global professional services firm wrote in a May 14 letter to State Trade and Rapid Response Coordinator Christina Omran that the workers are being let go due “a site closure/plant closing,” related to “material businesses changes to one of the Company’s clients.”

Genpact Vice President & Legal Counsel Richard Sutton told the state all affected employees have been individually notified about the layoffs.

New York-based Genpact has more than 90,000 employees around the world after first starting as a business unit within General Electric in 1997. It became an independent company in 2005 and went on to be publicly traded in 2007.

Genpact reported annual revenues of $3.7 billion as of December 31, 2020.
