SmartStream, a financial technology company that's headquartered in London and owned by the government of Dubai, opened a Jacksonville office this week.
Smartstream, which provides technology and consulting services to banks, plans to staff its Jacksonville operation with 20 employees to start.
“Jacksonville was a logical choice, and once we met with development officials we were certain we had made the right decision," said SmartStream CEO Haytham Kaddoura in an email sent to WJCT News.
SmartStream has more than 2,000 clients, including 70 of the world’s top 100 banks
A Wednesday check of indeed.com showed nine SmartStream job postings in Jacksonville for positions that include software engineer, transaction feed specialist and a senior cloud network and infrastructure engineer.
SmartStream has more than 1,000 employees deployed across 25 global offices. The Jacksonville office is its first in the Southeastern U.S.
“SmartStream is the latest in a long line of companies that are recognizing Jacksonville’s growing prominence in the financial technology industry,” said Mayor Lenny Curry. “And this is just the beginning. The momentum is only going to continue to build as more companies realize the amazing opportunities our community has to offer.”
